Reading: what this result means for the job
A case of several containers. At this size the case price is usually a negotiated figure, and the per gallon figure below is the number to compare against a different case size of the same product.
Applicability limit
The per gallon figure assumes the case price is the delivered price and the containers are full. It excludes freight, rebates, the storage a bulk case needs and the cost of opening a part case. This is a planning figure for the values entered, not a measured result. Coverage rates, product yields and application rates are properties of a specific product, applicator and substrate, and the label or data sheet for the product you are using always takes precedence over the default here. Cost covers the chemical only, at the price entered. It excludes labour, equipment, applicators, consumables, freight, storage, waste disposal and any over-pour that the allowance does not capture.

What to check

  • Check the container volume on the label rather than the size on the box.
  • Add freight and handling before deciding on the larger pack.
  • Compare the same product and grade, not two different formulations.

A case price compares packaging. The unit cost is what tells you whether a 55 gallon drum or four one gallon jugs is cheaper once freight, handling and storage are counted, and those costs are not in this number.
