Grease Trap Dose Calculator

Biological grease trap treatment for a trap volume over a period, with the daily dose and the period cost.

Inputs

Range: 1–20,000 gal

The liquid volume of the trap, not the fixture count. Measure the trap or read the as-built drawing.

Range: 0.01–100

From the treatment label. Start-up doses are higher than maintenance doses, so use the maintenance figure for a running programme.

Range: 1–365

Enter the measured or label value in the units shown.

Range: 0–1,000,000 per gallon

Enter the current purchase price in US dollars for the unit shown.

Reading: what this result means for the job
A daily programme-sized dose. The treatment is a habit, not an event: a dose missed on a Monday has no makeup, and the trap responds to the average, not to the total.
Applicability limit
The dose follows the trap working volume and the label dose entered, and it models a maintenance programme rather than a start-up. The treatment changes what the bacteria consume; it does not remove solids, and the trap still has to be pumped on the interval the local authority requires. This is a planning figure for the values entered, not a measured result. Coverage rates, product yields and application rates are properties of a specific product, applicator and substrate, and the label or data sheet for the product you are using always takes precedence over the default here. The EPA-registered label governs. Using a registered antimicrobial inconsistently with its labeling is unlawful under 7 U.S.C. 136j(a)(2)(G), and 40 CFR 156.10(i)(2)(ii) requires every label to carry that statement. This tool does arithmetic; it does not approve a dilution, and it does not determine compliance.

What to check

  • Use the liquid volume of the trap, not the fixture count or the kitchen size.
  • Check whether the label figure you entered is a start-up or a maintenance dose.
  • Confirm the pumping interval required by the local authority is unchanged.

The dose is set by trap volume and by the product label, and a start-up dose is higher than a maintenance dose. This tool models the maintenance programme; the trap still has to be pumped on its required interval.
