Heavy Soil Pass Count Calculator

Product for an area that takes more than one application, with the extra passes costed rather than absorbed by the crew.

Inputs

Range: 1–1,000,000

Length times width of the area to be cleaned.

Range: 50–10,000 sq ft per gallon

A heavy-soil rate is lower than a maintenance rate: the same gallon covers less on grease than on light dust.

Range: 1–6

A pass is one full application, dwell and removal. Count re-wetting as a pass.

Range: 1–512

The number after the colon on the product label.

Check the label wording. "1:64 solution" and "1 oz per 64 oz of water" do not mean the same thing.

Range: 0–1,000,000 per gallon

Reading: what this result means for the job
Two or three applications. The extra passes are the honest part of the estimate: a heavy-soil floor costs the passes it takes, and the cost per pass below is what changes when the count is argued.
Applicability limit
The pass count is entered by you, not inferred from a word like heavy. Each pass assumes a full application, the dwell on the label, and removal of the loosened soil before the next pass. Re-wetting a film that has dried counts as another pass. This is a planning figure for the values entered, not a measured result. Coverage rates, product yields and application rates are properties of a specific product, applicator and substrate, and the label or data sheet for the product you are using always takes precedence over the default here. The EPA-registered label governs. Using a registered antimicrobial inconsistently with its labeling is unlawful under 7 U.S.C. 136j(a)(2)(G), and 40 CFR 156.10(i)(2)(ii) requires every label to carry that statement. This tool does arithmetic; it does not approve a dilution, and it does not determine compliance.

What to check

  • Count the passes the floor actually needs, including any re-wetting after the film dries.
  • Confirm the coverage rate is a heavy-soil rate rather than a maintenance rate.
  • Check the dilution against the label before the first pass leaves the closet.

The pass count is a number you enter, not a word the site silently converts: heavy soil is defined by how many full applications it takes, and only the person who looked at the floor knows that. A multi-pass rate also assumes a proper dwell each time.
